We’ve got a pretty big fire pit here at the house that we had built as part of our back porch. The pit has an outside diameter of about 5 1/2′ and an inside diameter of around 4′. My buddy Josh rigged me up a huge corrugated grate that will be used for grilling. The sheet itself is 4′ x 4′ and it’s mounted with 3 aluminum rails. The rails were needed to keep the sag out of the grate. We’ll be using this primarily for grilling hamburgers, hot dogs, fish, etc…but with the rails Josh bolted on, it’s strong enough to hold a whole pig so I’m sure I’ll be trying that in the near future. I’ll update this post once I’ve cooked on it a few times, especially once I try a whole pig on it! Let me know what you think.
