Tango Spice Company is a BBQ rub company located in Sound Beach, NY that produces some of the most unique spice blends I’ve come across. Looking through their product line it’s easy to see that these guys are super creative and aren’t afraid to experiment with a bunch of different spices and herbs. I picked up their “Twist & Shout” recently and put it to the test with some dry rub baby back ribs. Check out the pics below and my comments:
First off, I really like the label design and color scheme. One small complaint is that after having tasted this blend and loving it, I was a bit bummed they don’t seem to offer their blends/rubs in larger shakers or bulk bags.
As you can see here there are all kinds of ingredients packed into this blend! I’ve had a lot of these ingredients in other rubs before, but not so many of them all packed into one blend like this one.
Here’s a close up that shows you the nice light brown / orange color of the blend and the finely ground herbs/spices mixed in with the larger sesame seeds.
Dusted the BB’s down and let them sit while the smoker was coming up to temp.
About 15-20 minutes before I pulled the BB’s, I lightly dusted them one more time with a little more Twist & Shout.
The large variety of herbs and spices in this blend paired really well with the slow smoked pork ribs. There’s a lot of flavor going on in each bite so it was fun to try and pick out all the various ingredients.
As I showed above on the back of the bottle, it says “medium” on the heat scale, but in my opinion this is really more of a mild blend. Overall, this was a really great spice blend/rub and considering the wide variety of flavors that it presents, I can tell this is going to be great on a lot of different foods (and not just meats…).
